Freezing & Thawing our Fruit Rice Puddings

Simply Fruit Rice Puddings are available as a fresh product .  They can be frozen for up to 6 months.  If frozen, our rice puddings can be thawed in the refrigerator or microwave and enjoyed easily and effortlessly in minutes. Because we choose not to use any additives or stabilizers in our whole fruit rice puddings to prevent natural crystalization during freezing,  the puddings will change texture slightly when defrosted.  But, heating them through, either from their frozen or thawed state, restores their original texture, consistency and creaminess.  Please note, The frozen rice puddings only need to be heated through once and then given a quick stir. They can be consumed warm or refrigerated, covered for up to 2 weeks, until you are ready to enjoy them.  Please reuse &          our plastic containers

 

 

 

 

 

                     From frozen, they can be turned out of their plastic containers into a microwave safe dish and microwaved on                            high, uncovered, for 3.5 to 4 minutes.   Stir and enjoy warm or place in the refrigerator covered to be consumed within 2 weeks.  From a thawed state, turn them out into a microwave safe dish and heat through, on high, for 2 minutes, depending on your microwave.  Stir and enjoy warm or refrigerate, covered for up to 2 weeks.

                 If you don't have or use microwaves, the frozen rice puddings can be emptied into a heavy bottomed sauce pan                           on the stove top.  You can add 2 tablespoons of water and heat on medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes until                                         completely thawed and heated thoroughly or, you can place them into a heavy bottomed sauce pan on the stove and not add any extra water.  This way, you will need to use a low to medium heat setting to thaw and heat thoroughly.  Just a note, by adding the 2 tbsp of water, the fruit rice pudding ends up saucier than if you don't add water.  The advantage of adding the extra water is that you can thaw them quicker on a higher heat setting, and they shouldn't stick to the bottom of the pot.  From a thawed state, they can be emptied into a heavy bottomed pan on the stove top and heated through, without adding water, on a medium heat setting, for 4 or 5 minutes, depending on your stove top.  Stir and enjoy or refrigerate covered for up to 2 weeks.   

 .               From frozen, you can empty them into an oven proof dish, with or without a cover and place them into a toaster                         over or conventional oven for 20 to 30 minutes, at 300 or 350 depending on your oven.  From a thawed state,                             they can be emptied into an oven proof dish and placed in a 300 or 350 oven or toaster oven for 10 to 15 minutes depending on your oven.  Give a quick stir and enjoy warm or place in the refrigerator covered, for up to 2 weeks. 

 

As an added footnote, if you find our freezer grade plastic containers difficult to open, especially when taken from the freezer or sometimes after being frozen then thawed, just run the lid under warm water for a few seconds and it softens right up again.  You'll find this much easier on the fingers.  They have a very strong seal so water won't get in if you choose to do this.
